Owl Head Lodge was the dream of its original owner to combine good architecture with a love for the land on which he built. The result was a stunning residence combining the 3 fundamental principles of architecture: Function, Structure and Beauty. Although the kitchen and bathrooms have since been renovated, the property’s original bones remain — recycled timber beams surrounding walls of glass panels running floor to high-vaulted ceiling — and hosts, Marg and Garry Meredith, delight in sharing their unique accommodation with their guests.
Marg and Garry are long-time Gulgong residents who treasure the whole Gulgong and Mudgee experience and love showcasing this region to all. Their wish is to provide an unforgettable experience to guests seeking a beautiful boutique luxurious retreat with a peaceful ambience like no other.
The Owl Head Lodge estate adjoins Garry’s lucerne hay flats and cattle property and looks out over the neighbouring vineyards. With wraparound views, the outlook from just about every room is delightful – be it lush valley and tree-studded paddocks, grazing cattle and long-haired Angora goats, or vineyards in a forested range backdrop. Gulgong’s heritage township is just five minutes away, where you’ll find Marg’s astonishing discount and variety retail store, Stacks Down Under. You’ll find many ornaments from the store throughout the cottage and garden, adding a touch of whimsy and quirkiness; guaranteed to be a talking point!
Between working the land and Marg’s business, Marg and Garry still find time to enjoy gardening, a testament to the lovely gardens surrounding Owl Head Lodge. They are very open and easy-going, and are more than happy to chat to you and answer any questions you may have about the region, or just leave you in peace to enjoy your stay!
